Day 13 - Florence
A lazy morning ended abruptly in a mile long dash to the train station.  Safely aboard, we
found ourselves headed for Florence, the farthest north point in our trip.  Arriving in Florence,
we fought through the crowds on the way to our hotel on the 6th story of a centuries old
building, overlooking the outdoor market.  We ate lunch at Mario's, a Florentine landmark and
a crowded restaurant from the 1950s where the menu is limited and so is the seating.  We
wound up sitting in close quarters with a pair of Austrian art historians, who had come to
Florence to take back home a piece that was on loan from a museum at which they worked.
We shopped in the markets, were awed by the duomo, and ate a sandwich diner overlooking
the city.  Then it was back our hotel, with Assisi calling us onward in the morning!
