Day 7 - Ponte San Pietro
Today's route took us away from Tuscania, and out into the country.  Hilly
countryside and small, ancient villages passed by as we pedalled towards the
major attraction of the day:  the ruins of the Roman town of Vulci.  A major
archeological site, Vulci was full of remnants of walls, houses and temples.  The
attendant museum had a wonderful collection of Etruscan and Roman artifacts
as well.  We took our time in Vulci, then hit the road again, aiming for the
Agriturismo Castro at Ponte San Pietro, and an authentic Italian country dinner
Roman
speedbumps.
The main temple at Vulci...with
an artist's rendition.
A waterfall feeding the lake at
Vulci...the sign said to beware
of eels.  We declined to swim.
